Super Kids – Super Camp

August 3rd, 2011 by Lisa Kelly | 0 Comments

Well, we’ve completed yet another successful summer camp. I must admit that I always get nervous the night before camp begins for some reason. Perhaps I’m subconsciously recalling my first day jitters from my childhood – or maybe it’s due to me now a biz owner, wanting camp to be the best it can possibly be for our little guests… Either way, after the first day – all things have fallen into place and when the kids don’t want to go home, I know I’ve done things right! And what a fab time it was this past July! Magic Carpet Around the World, Kids for Peace, Insects & Micro-life are a few of the themes we explored over the week. Each morning we’d begin with camp songs at circle. Then we’d practice yoga and meditation, which opened our minds and souls to boundless creativity – nurtured with visual art, drama and/or musical theatre. Later on, we’d read a story related to our theme and end the day with camp songs at circle once again. Originally I was wishing that we were going to have our camp outside. But as it turned out – the week ended up being during the HOTTEST WEEK EVER, so I was thanking my lucky stars that we had a cool space to play in! Although we did have access to some green space outside – we only did yoga there twice and for the rest of the week we stayed indoors. It was just too darn steamy! All in all, a fantastic week. We just can’t wait to see all of our little campers again real soon!

Drama Games Workshop: 1:00 – 2:30 p.m. Every Saturday afternoon, Ryan Kelly (our drama teacher extraordinaire) gets together with kids from the neighbourhood — and beyond, for an hour and a half of pure imaginative FUN. Each class is unique with games, music, improv, story creation, story acting/playing and down-right silliness. Ryan has a true talent in cultivating children’s imagination while keeping them deeply engaged. That’s why every child who visits wants to come back for more! Thanks to Ryan for sharing his own inner child to make this class a true gift for all to enjoy.

Our Saturday class schedule is as follows:

Multimedia Art for Kids (4 yrs +) 10:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. CANCELLED this week due to teacher unavailability.

Drama Games Workshop (4 yrs +) 1:00 p.m. – 2:30 p.m.

Yoga & Art Workshop (4 yrs +) 1:00 p.m. – 2:30 p.m.

See you there! We would greatly appreciate it if you could call or email us if you intend to come to one of our drop-ins. It helps with prep when we have an idea of the number of kids participating. Thanks!
