The Toronto Roald Dahl Festival – September 11 & 12:

Small Print Toronto presents The Toronto Roald Dahl Festival, a celebration designed to encourage readers of all ages and stripes to share their impressions of Dahl’s work. ~Theatre Direct, Artscape Wychwood Barns, 601 Christie St.~

Roald Dahl is one of the great storytellers of our time. And his books are more popular than ever. Over the past five years alone, Hollywood has released two major films based on his classic novels: Charlie and The Chocolate Factory, directed by Tim Burton, and Wes Anderson’s adaptation of The Fantastic Mr Fox. And “Roald Dahl Day” is now observed all across the United Kingdom and throughout Europe.  Isn’t it high time for a tribute to this international literary giant here in Canada?

The Centre For Art & Soul is thrilled to be a part of such a dynamic event, giving a Dahl-inspired craft session on Sunday Sept. 12 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.!

THE CHILDREN’S STOREFRONT
For more than thirty years, the Children’s Storefront has provided a community hub for parents of young children from across Toronto. For more info, visit: http://www.childrensstorefront.com/

WHY RISK IT?
As many of you learned the hard way, tickets to last winter’s Totsapalooza completely sold out in just four days! And advance ticket sales for this year’s show are already brisk. So, why risk it? Take a second to reserve your tickets at www.smallprinttoronto.org.

WHAT’S “THE TOT SQUAD”?
The Tot Squad is a trio of undercover cultural operatives who join forces to serve and protect the DIY ethos on the mean streets of children’s programming. Dance Workshop — Fame! September 26th, 2009

Calling all dance, drama and music students! FAME is here!! On Saturday September 26th, our Music Theatre teacher Ryan, will be at the Alliance Cinemas in The Beach doing a dance workshop for the opening of FAME along with another studio from the east end of town called The S.P.A.C.E.
Linette Doherty (of The S.P.A.C.E.), has co-ordinated this special event occuring in the lobby of the theatre before the movie opens and Ryan – from our studio, will be participating/teaching in the workshop. Don’t miss this rare opportunity!!
We’ll be at the Beaches Alliance Cinema, starting at 3pm.  We’ll see the movie at a reduced rate – which also includes a discount on concession items – and we’ll also have a big dance workshop in the lobby of the theatre with T-shirts, posters, and other fabulous FAME giveaways!  We’d LOVE it if your kids and their friends could join us in making it a great event for everyone. And especially for them to see a group of kids just like themselves — passionate about the arts — up on the big screen.
The theatre is a little farther away – especially from Bloor and Lansdowne,  at 1651 Queen St. East. But it’s just off the Lakeshore, so if you’re driving, it’s actually pretty easy to get to, and there’s tons of parking.  Plus, it’s a huge theatre, and can accommodate a big group.
Please contact either Lisa of The Centre for Art & Soul or Linette of The S.P.A.C.E. for tickets.
